Meet the two characters

Two bottles, different first impressions

Our current introduction focuses on The Broody Hen Blended Scotch Whisky and the 10 Year-Old Single Malt. Rather than starting with a ranking, start with the character you are curious about.

The official notes describe honeyed and vanilla-led impressions for the blend, and toffee, apple-pie and a little smoke for the malt. Tasting language describes impressions; it does not mean those ingredients have been added.

Read the label, then the notes

Check the expression, category, bottle size and strength before exploring nose, palate and finish. The two products presented here are 700ml and 40% ABV; always check the label of the actual bottle offered for sale.

You do not need to find every aroma in a published note. A short description in your own words can be more useful than a long list borrowed from someone else.

Compare, rather than rank

Ask what you notice first, what feels familiar and what you would like to explore further.
